Biography:
As a Pro: McClay was selected by the Pride in the first round (5th overall) of the 2003 MLL Collegiate Draft. 2007: One of his finest seasons as a pro, McClay collected 70 ground balls including a career high 11 on July 26 against Philadelphia. 2006: Appeared in 11 games with the Pride, recording 27 groundballs. His groundball total led all Pride defensemen. Currently has 189 groundballs for his career. 2005: McClay finished the season with a team-high 47 ground balls, including a season-high eight vs. Boston on July 9. 2004: Handed out an assist in two different games (June 5 vs. Baltimore in Denver, July 31 vs. Boston.) Picked up a season high eight ground balls July 10 vs. Long Island. Had seven ground balls July 31 vs. Boston. 2003: Was selected in the first round (5th pick overall) in the 2003 Collegiate Draft. Played in 12 games as a rookie. Scored one goal in a June 27 game vs. Boston. Picked up a career high 11 ground balls twice (July 19 at Long Island, August 10 at Long Island.) As a Collegian: During his time at Cornell University, McClay was named to the First Team All-Ivy Team in 2002 and 2003, was named the Ivy League Player of the Year in 2003, and was awarded first team All-America honors in 2002-2003, third team All-America honors in 2001 and Honorable Mention All-America honors in 2000. McClay was a member of the Summer 2002 USA team which won gold in Australia. That summer he receive Most Valuable Defenseman as the youngest player selected to the 2002 USA team.
