As a Collegian:

2007:

Tied his career high with three caused turnovers in 11-6 season-opening win over Bellarmine (2/17) and also picked up two groundballs vs. the Knights. He helped the defense hold Bellarmine scoreless for nearly 25 minutes. Had two caused turnovers and a groundball in 16-7 win over Vermont (2/20). He helped hold the Catamounts scoreless for a 26-minute span with one groundball in 8-6 loss to No. 4 Georgetown (2/24). Joe helped hold the Hoyas without a goal for a 25:14 span with three groundballs and two caused turnovers in 14-7 loss to No. 2 Duke (3/2). He had two groundballs in 8-7 win at No. 13 Towson (3/10) and helped hold the Tigers scoreless for the first 29:57 of the game. One groundball in 13-4 win over Lafayette (3/13) and helped hold the Leopards to just one goal over the final 45:22 of the game. Helped the defense hold No. 19 UMBC (3/17) to just one goal in 29:39 to allow the offense to go on a 9-1 run to seal the game with one groundball and a caused turnover in 18-3 win over Mount St. Mary's. He helped hold the Mount scoreless for a stretch of 37:29 with one caused turnover in 14-8 win over No. 11 North Carolina (3/24).  Helped hold the Tar Heels scoreless for 24:28 and played long pole in 8-7 double-OT win at No. 7 Navy (4/6) . Joe caused three turnovers and helped hold the Mids scoreless for 20:23 . Two groundballs in 8-7 OT loss to No. 10 Johns Hopkins (4/14) and tied his career-best with four groundballs in 14-10 win at Penn (4/21) . He also caused two Quaker turnovers and picked up his first career assist on Brian Farrell's second quarter goal in 11-10 loss to No. 3 Virginia (4/27) in the ACC semifinals. Also had three groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers vs. the Cavaliers and two groundballs in 12-4 win over Yale (5/5) . He tied his career-high with four groundballs in 13-9 loss to UMBC (5/13) in the NCAA tournament and also had two caused turnovers vs. the Retrievers.

2006:

One groundball and one caused turnover in 10-4 season opening victory at No. 7 Georgetown (2/25). He had two caused turnovers in 8-7 overtime win at No. 1 Duke (3/4). He also picked up a groundball vs the Blue Devils with one groundball in 9-6 win over No. 15 Towson (3/11) . Joe tied his career high for the second time this season with two in 7-6 loss in double overtime to Bucknell (3/14) and also picked up two groundballs vs. the Bison . He caused two turnovers in 9-4 victory at UMBC (3/18) and scored his first collegiate goal, going end-to-end after causing a turnover in 14-2 win over Dartmouth (3/21) . He also had three caused turnovers vs. the Big Green and helped the Terp defense hold Dartmouth scoreless for 53:32 and without a shot for the first 23:04 of the game he also caused a turnover and picked up one groundball in 9-6 win at North Carolina (3/25) . Two groundballs and a caused turnover in 15-5 loss to No. 1 Virginia (4/1) . Two groundballs and a caused turnover in 7-6 loss to No. 8 Navy (4/8) . Joe had another outstanding performance in 11-4 win at No. 6 Johns Hopkins (4/15) and picked up a career-best four groundballs and helped the defense hold the Blue Jays to a season-low four goals. He helped lead the Terp defense to a first-half shutout of Sacred Heart in an 18-2 Terp win (4/18) . One groundball vs. the Pioneers . Two groundballs in 10-9 win over North Carolina (4/28) in the ACC Semifinals and he tied his career high with three caused turnovers in 11-5 loss to No. 1 Virginia (4/30) in the ACC Finals . He had three groundballs in 12-4 win over No. 10 Penn (5/6) and three groundballs in 16-8 win over No. 12 Denver (5/13) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Joe had three caused turnovers in 11-6 win over No. 9 Princeton (5/21) in the NCAA Quarterfinals and he also picked up three groundballs vs. the Tigers, three caused turnovers in 8-5 loss to No. 10 UMass (5/27) in NCAA Semifinals.  He also picked up a groundball vs. the Minutemen.

2005:

Shared the team's Levitt Memorial Award for the team's best freshman with Max Ritz. He made his collegiate debut in 13-6 season opening win over No. 5 Georgetown (2/26) and saw significant playing time, picking up two groundballs, in 9-4 win over No. 19 North Carolina (3/26). He made his first collegiate start and helped hold the Stags scoreless in the second half in 9-6 win at No. 15 Fairfield (4/23) and had one groundball and two caused turnovers vs. the Stags . Joe had three groundballs and two caused turnovers in 8-7 overtime victory over No. 3 Virginia in the ACC Semifinals (4/29) and  two groundballs and helped the Maryland defense hold the nation's top scoring team without a goal for 40:15 in 9-5 win over No. 2 Duke (5/1) to win the ACC championship . One groundball in 21-6 drubbing of Penn (5/7) at Lincoln Financial Field with one groundball in 14-10 win over No. 11 Penn State (5/14) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament he had a career-best four groundballs in 18-9 loss to No. 2 Duke (5/28) in the NCAA Semifinals.

Personal:

Son of John and Ann Cinosky. Younger brother of John and Mike. Joe graduated with a degree in criminology and criminal justice.
