As a Collegian:

2008:

Alex was preseason first-team All-America by Inside Lacrosse.

2007:

Second-team All-America, second-team All-Ivy League, second in Division I in goals-against (6.12) and sixth in save percentage (.604).  Had a .667 save percentage in five games this season decided by two goals or less (Hopkins, Virginia, Hofstra, Yale, Brown).  Had a career .684 save percentage in games decided by one or two goals. Was named Ivy League Player of the Week after 14-save, three-goals-against, .824 save percentage performance against Yale. Had 13 saves while allowing three goals against Harvard, made 12 saves against Syracuse, made 11 saves while allowing four goals against Hofstra (.733 save percentage) , made 10 saves against Virginia has made 30 saves and allowed 14 goals in last two games against UVa. Is the only goalie to hold Virginia under 10 goals during each of the last two seasons and had 11 saves against Brown.

2006:

Alex won the Ensign C. Markland Kelly Award as top goalie in Division I. Second-team All-Ivy League and became third goalie to play at Princeton for Bill Tierney to be first-team All-America (Scott Bacigalupo/Trevor Tierney) and second to be named first-team All-America and second-team All-Ivy in the same season. He was the second in Division I with a .646 save percentage and fourth in goals-against with a 6.49 average and made at least 12 saves nine times in 16 games. Had a .706 save percentage against Virginia, Hofstra and Cornell, the top three scoring teams in Division I during the regular season; held the three to a total of 20 goals, half of their combined average.  He made 16 saves in NCAA quarterfinal game against Maryland, made 15 saves while allowing four goals against Cornell for a .789 save percentage; Cornell had averaged 12.2 goals prior to the game, made 13 saves while allowing four goals against Rutgers, made 16 saves against Dartmouth for the second straight year and made 20 saves against Virginia. He held UVa, the highest scoring team in the nation, to seven goals, more than 10 below its average coming into the game, had 15 saves while allowing four goals against Butler, had six saves while allowing one goal in 51 minutes against Binghamton, had 13 saves against Hofstra, made 12 saves against Yale and Penn, made 11 saves against UMBC in NCAA first round, made seven saves while allowing four goals at Hopkins as Princeton snapped Blue Jays’ 37-game home winning streak, six of seven saves against both Johns Hopkins and Harvard came in the second half , save with 1:15 remaining preserved 6 - 5 win over Brown that gave Princeton share of Ivy League title and played first 45 minutes against Canisius and allowed three goals.

2005:

He played in six games, starting three. Played 238:02 with 25 goals against (6.30 GAA) and 44 saves (.638 save percentage) made nine saves, including three in overtime, in 6-5 win over Penn and made seven saves while allowing one goal in 24:49 against Brown.

Personal:

Son of Russell and Nan Hewit. Father is graduate of Washington & Lee; mother is graduate of Jacksonville. Older sister Meghan graduated from Dartmouth in 2000, brother Rusty graduated from Washington & Lee in 2002 and brother Grant graduated in 2006 after serving as captain of the Princeton men’s lacrosse team.  Alex graduated with a degree in History.
